The Cathedral Notre-Dame of Strasbourg

Open every day from 7 a.m. to 11.30 a.m and from 12.40 p.m. to 7 p.m. Free entrance.
The Cathedral is one of the most important monuments of the
Middle Ages (11th - 15th century). It was completed in 1439
by the spire (466 feet high). The construction of the façade
started in 1277. It is famous for its three portals ornamented
with statues, its rose window and the intricate stone lacework.
Going-up to the Cathedral platform (66 metres) through
a 329 steps staircase November, December, January, February
9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. March, October 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Petite-France
|

This district is the most picturesque and romantic
place in Strasbourg. Located in the heart of the Petite-
France, place Benjamin Zix is the ideal
spot to admire the mixed beams under sloping roofs which sheltered
formerly the attics of tanning. The most typical and outstanding
Alsatian house is the Maison des Tanneurs where
the seat of the powerful corporation of tanners was once settled. |

Built in the XVth and XVIth centuries, the Maison Kammerzell
is one the most original building the Renaisance brought forth
in Alsace. Thanks to its unique architecture, it is the most
beautiful half-timbered house in Strasbourg. Quite near the
Cathedral, the Maison Kammerzell is also a gastro-nomic
restaurant and is today ranked an historic building. |
